OUTDOORS SOCIETY CONTENT & COMMUNITY CREATIVE

ABOUT US

Outdoors Society was born out of a simple philosophy: Do Good and Have Fun.
This philosophy flows through to our work culture. We are on a mission to change the landscape of apparel through our purpose-driven brands. Our ambition is global, but our roots are proudly New Zealand. We’re here to build the best global brands out of New Zealand.

Scaling fast, with a small team punching above our weight. We move fast, work collaboratively, and back each other to build brands that stand for something. This is an organisation for builders, doers, and adventurers who want to leave their mark on the world and have a bloody good time doing it.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Content & Community Creative is responsible for helping shape, capture and communicate the world around Outdoors Society, Goodlids and Moreporks. You will work closely with the wider creative team to develop and produce photography, social content, campaigns and community activations that bring the brands to life. The right person will have strong creative instincts, great taste, a passion for film photography and a deep connection to the outdoors and outdoor culture. The role is full-time Monday-Friday based out of our central Auckland HQ.

WHAT YOU’LL OWN

Content Creation

  • Shoot and edit short-form films, campaign content, social content and brand storytelling
  • Capture events, activations, trips, product launches and behind-the-scenes moments
  • Develop creative concepts for films, campaigns and editorial projects
  • Support larger campaign shoots across pre-production, production and post-production
  • Produce content across digital video, analogue film and iPhone
  • Maintain a consistently high visual standard across brand content
  • Experiment with new formats, treatments and storytelling approaches

Community & Culture

  • Help ideate, create and organise community events, activations, screenings, trips and collaborations
  • Attend and document our community events and key brand moments
  • Actively grow the network and cultural world surrounding Outdoors Society
  • Stay connected to the global ecosystem of our brands, identifying trends and opportunities aligned with our values.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • 1–4 years’ experience across film photography, content production or a related creative role. Non-professional experience will be considered for the right candidate
  • Strong shooting and editing capability, with a portfolio that demonstrates good visual taste and storytelling instincts
  • A deep connection to the outdoors and outdoor culture is a must.
  • A self-starting attitude - someone who naturally makes things, finds stories and brings ideas without needing constant direction
  • Strong people skills and cultural awareness, with the confidence to build relationships across creators, collaborators and the wider community
  • Confidence using tools such as Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Lightroom, Photoshop or similar would be considered advantageous

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:

Success in this role means Outdoors Society and its brands are able to materially increase both the quality and quantity of our creative output, allowing us to continue to develop our brand worlds and the values which underpin them.

You will know you are succeeding when:

  • The quality of film and photographic output improves materially
  • The brands have a consistent flow of interesting, original content
  • Our content feels recognisably ours without relying heavily on logos or product
  • More of the world around the brands is being documented
  • Strong films and creative projects are being produced consistently
  • The brands are developing meaningful relationships with local people and communities
  • Community activations feel genuine, culturally relevant and well documented
  • Content increasingly comes from authentic community experiences, rather than manufactured moments.
  • You are independently identifying, pitching and executing creative ideas
  • Our Head of Content has a highly capable creative partner who increases both the quantity and quality of what the team can produce
  • The creative standard of Goodlids, Moreporks and Outdoors Society continues to rise as the business grows

HOW TO APPLY

Please send us:

1. Three things you’ve made, that you're proud of.

Films, photographs, projects, Home DIY, stories, missions, short-form content: whatever best represents you.

2. Your five favourite pieces of brand content (ideally not from our brands)

Campaigns, advertisements, reels, photographs, blog posts etc.

We want to understand your taste, and which brands you gravitate towards.

3. A little bit about yourself

Tell us what you’re into, what you do outside work, and why this role sounds interesting.

Portfolio, Instagram, Vimeo, YouTube or whatever else you use is welcome.
